Stamford HS Junior Wins Medal In National Art Competition

She recently earned her award in the 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Competition.

From SPS: Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that Stamford High School (SHS) junior Maggie Meister recently earned a Silver Medal in Photography for her piece, “Seeing Double,” in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

The National Scholastic Art Awards and The Alliance For Young Artists and Writers program honors the creative efforts of students in grades 7 to 12, who attend public, private and parochial schools. Students are awarded Gold or Silver keys and Honorable Mention Awards in each of 29 categories judged by artists, university faculty and professionals in the field. According to the organization, this is the largest and most senior program of its type in the country. The program boasts an established a track record for identifying the early promise of accomplished and prolific creative leaders, such as Andy Warhol.

Meister, a student of SHS Art Teacher Module Downer, earned a Gold Key in the affiliate regional competition earlier this year, which qualified her to compete at the national level.
