Person Jumped to Death on I-95 in Stamford: PD

Police continue to investigate the incident.

STAMFORD, CT — A woman apparently jumped from an overpass onto I-95 before being struck by a car, according to police.

The incident closed I-95 northbound exit 9 entrance and exit ramps Thursday afternoon.

She passed away after suffering from severe head trauma, police said. She appears to be Hispanic, about 5-feet-4-inches tall with long brown hair, brown eyes and a freckled face. She was wearing Sketcher sneakers, a grey hooded sweatshirt and black yoga pants.

The woman is between 20 and 40 years old, according to the Stamford Advocate. A witness described seeing her body in the middle of the roadway and said at first he thought it was a deer.

In October 2014 a man jumped off the same overpass and in 2009 a city man jumped, but survived in an apparent suicide attempt. In a February 2016 incident a man walked into traffic near the scene and was struck and killed.
