Stamford Man Facing DUI Charge After Crashing Into Parked Cars: Cops

The man allegedly attempted to flee the scene.

A Stamford man is facing a DUI charge after police say he crashed into two parked vehicles on Alexander Street in Greenwich.

Police were dispatched to 33 Alexander Street on Sunday just after 11 p.m. Witnesses at the scene told police that the operator, identified as Benedicto C Mendones, 70 attempted to free his vehicle of the collision and flee the scene.

Mendones reportedly had red glossy eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath, police said. He later failed standard sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence, unsafe movement and evading responsibility.
