Stamford Mayor and His Wife Honored As Founders of Starfish Connection
The program helps youngsters in Stamford and Greenwich learn at sea.

The Young Mariners Foundation (YMF) honored Judy Martin and Stamford Mayor David Martin, founders of Starfish Connection Inc., a partner of YMF, at its fourth annual Keeping Kids on Course gala on Thursday.
Young Mariners encourages the growth and development of students in teamwork, goal setting, life and citizenship skills, and self-esteem by combining the sport of sailing with after-school educational programs. The foundation’s After-School Enrichment Program offers extracurricular learning activities focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math.

Since Young Mariners was founded in 1997 more than 2,400 students have attended and benefited from one or more of the programs. The foundation’s programming is offered in seven Stamford public schools and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.
