Stamford Mayor's Twitter Account Hacked
Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons' Twitter account was hacked over the weekend, according to Simmons' office. It's now restored and secure.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons' Twitter account was hacked this past weekend, according to Special Assistant to the Mayor Lauren Meyer.
Meyer told Patch she realized Sunday that Simmons' account had been hacked briefly, but the issue was resolved Monday morning. The Stamford Advocate reported that there were some spam tweets that were sent out while the account was compromised, and that the administration is unsure how the account was hacked.
"Cyber security is incredibly important and unfortunately, no one is immune to these types of cyberattacks. I’m grateful to my team for their swift action to resolving this issue," Simmons said in a statement through Meyer.
