Stamford Men Are Charged with Sexually Assaulting Intoxicated Victim

Stamford Police reportedly were able to stop the attack after someone reported seeing two men dragging a woman into a downtown apartment.

Two Stamford men are being held on sexual assault charges after Stamford Police reportedly broke up the sexual assault of a severely intoxicated 20-year-old woman early Saturday.

And police are investigating whether the victim was drugged by the suspects, identified as Ruben Enio Sandoval, 35, of Woodside Street, and Augusto Carreras, 53, of Dolsen Place, who allegedly dragged her to a downtown apartment, according to The Advocate.

The suspects are charged sexual assault, unlawful restraint and conspiracy charges after police received a report of the two men dragging a woman into Carreras’s apartment on Dolsen Place, which is across the street from Stamford Police headquarters.

The first officer on scene was able to see one of the suspects was having sex with the woman passed out on a mattress on the floor, according to the Advocate report, which can be found here.

Carerras is being held on $250,000 bond and scheduled to return to court Jan. 20, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. Bond information on Sandoval was not immediately available.
