Stamford To Pay $2.4M In Sex Assault Settlement: Report
The city has reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit that claims two people were sexually abused by an elementary school gym teacher.
STAMFORD, CT — The city of Stamford has agreed to pay $2.4 million to settle a lawsuit that claims two people were sexually assaulted by their gym teacher over two decades ago at Toquam Elementary School, according to a report from the Stamford Advocate.
Stamford has now agreed to pay more than $6 million to settle lawsuits with eight people who claimed they were sexually abused by Robert Martinez, the Advocate reported.
Martinez worked as a gym teacher at Rogers Elementary School from 1972 to 1982, then at Hart Elementary School, and he finished his caeer at Toquam where he worked from 1991 to 2005, the Advocate said.
