Stamford PD Narrowing Probe Into Discovery Of Deceased Baby
Staff at the City Carting & Recycling facility in Stamford discovered the child on the morning of Oct. 16.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford police investigators have ruled out locations in Nassau County, NY and Andover, MA as possible places where the dead baby boy discovered at a garbage plant in Stamford last week may have come from, according to officials.
"Investigators are now focusing their efforts on the material that was delivered by a company that services Westchester County, NY, including Danbury and Ridgefield, CT, and from local material delivered from lower Fairfield County, CT, to include Stamford, Westport, and Norwalk," wrote Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin and Lt. Thomas Scanlon on the department's Facebook page. "The majority of the material that was processed on the morning of October 16, 2018, is known to have come from commercial properties/dumpsters."
The Stamford Major Crimes unit has reached out to law enforcement partners in Westchester and the other Connecticut communities for assistance.

The child was found at the City Carting & Recycling facility in Stamford on Oct. 16, and is described as a white or Hispanic boy. An autopsy last week was inconclusive as to the cause of death. Additional forensic tests are currently being conducted by the State Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine if the full-term child was stillborn or died after birth.

Chief Patrick Keefe reports that Andover has been ruled out as a possible area where a newborn baby could have originated after the Stamford, Connecticut Police Department discovered the infant's remains in a recycling center last week.
On Oct. 16, a deceased newborn was discovered at City Carting and Recycling in Stamford. Police determined that material was dropped off from companies that operate in several areas, including Andover.
Stamford Police have informed the Andover Police Department that Andover has been ruled out as potential area of origin due to the timeline of when the recycling materials were processed at the center in Connecticut.
