Stamford Police Collected Over 500 Pounds Of Prescription Drugs

Residents were able to drop off unused or unwanted medications at the Stamford Police Department last week.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department on Oct. 26 collected 522.5 pounds worth of unused or unwanted prescription medication as part of a drug take-back event.

The SPD worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other community partners to collect the medications from residents at police headquarters.

Assistant Chief Richard Conklin said the drugs were "destroyed in a safe environmentally friendly manner."

"As a reminder, unwanted or outdated prescription drugs can be dropped off at the Stamford Police Dept. at any time 24/7," Conklin added. "Just speak with our headquarters staff who will take these products to be destroyed."
