Stamford Police ID Victim Killed When Her Car Rolled Over Her
The victim and a neighbor were trying to open a garage door when the vehicle rolled back, striking the women.

Stamford Police have released the identity of the 84-year-old city woman who was killed and the other woman injured outside the Chesterfield condominium complex when a car in front of the driver’s residence rolled backward and struck them Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Virginia Bellas, a long-time resident of the Bedford Street complex, according to The Advocate.
Bellas had just dropped off her close friend, Sue Falzetti, 72, in front of her home just after 4 p.m. Tuesday and pulled her 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue sedan in front of her garage, residents told the newspaper.

Falzetti apparently went to help Bellas who was having trouble opening her garage door. As the women stood in the driveway, the car began to roll backwards and the open driver’s door struck them.
Both were taken to Stamford Hospital where Bellas died. Falzetti, the wife of retired Stamford Police Lt. Joseph Falzetti, was treated and released.
