Stamford Police: Man Used Saw to Nearly Sever Hand of Ex's New Boyfriend
The victims were ambushed as they entered the woman's apartment.

A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and ambushed her and her new boyfriend with a handsaw as they entered the residence late Thursday, according to Stamford Police.
The 32-year-old woman and her 45-year-old boyfriend returned to her Camp Avenue apartment about 11:15 p.m. Thursday when the suspect attacked them, said Capt. Richard Conklin.
“He knocked the woman to the ground and went after the boyfriend with a 15-inch handsaw striking him about the head and his hands about 15 times. He had severe lacerations to both hands and the left hand was about 50 percent severed,” Conklin said.

The boyfriend was rushed to Stamford Hospital and then transferred to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY because of the severity of his injuries, according to Conklin. It isn’t known whether the victim will lose his hand, Conklin said.
The suspect, identified as Cesar Olivero, 34, of New York, was still at the scene when police arrived and surrendered, Conklin said. Olivero was charged with first-degree assault for the saw attack, first-degre burglary, home invasion , possession of a dangerous weapon, and third-degree assault for his attack on the ex-girlfriend, according to Conklin.
