Stamford Police Meet With Boy Who Was Injured In Playground Crash
Officers met with the 11-year-old boy and had pizza with him this week.

STAMFORD, CT — Several Stamford police officers from the city's West Side Patrol Squad B met with the 11-year-old who was injured April 30 after a car crashed into the swingset he was playing on near Lione Park.
The Stamford Police Department posted a photo on Facebook that showed six officers with the boy.
"The Officers were so proud of his courage and bravery, during the ordeal, they wanted to meet him, and eat pizza with him from Westover Pizza," the department said in the post. "Our young friend is recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery."

On April 30 at 3:15 p.m., police said a white four-door sedan driven by 54-year-old city resident Lyneel Mikel was going through the parking lot at Lione Park and heading towards the exit.
"It looks like the person driving the car stepped on the gas instead of the brake pedal and drove through a chainlink fence into where the playground area is," Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the SPD said. "There was a kid on the swings, and [the car] hit the swingset."
