Stamford Police Release Sketch of 'Person of Interest' in Cove Island Park Sex Assault

Do you recognize this man? Stamford Police hope someone recognizes the man they want to question about the early morning rape of a jogger.

Stamford Police have released a sketch of a man they are describing as a “person of interest” in the Oct. 16 early morning sexual assault of a jogger at Cove Island Park.

The 30-year-old victim was jogging on the park track about 5:20 a.m. Oct. 16 when a Hispanic male came from behind her and grabbed her off the track, police said. The man assaulted the woman and then dragged her to the waterline of the park that borders Darien and assaulted her again.

The man is described as a light skinned Hispanic male who spoke English with a heavy Spanish accent. He is five-foot-six to five-feet-seven inches tall with a stocky, compact build and a pot or beer belly with light facial hair.

The suspect was described as wearing black athletic shorts and sneakers, green zip-up fleece top and dark colored baseball hat.

Anyone who recognizes the man or may have been in the area between 5 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 16 is asked to contact the Stamford Police Major Crimes Unit, Squad C, at 203-977-4417. All calls will be kept confidential.
