Stamford Police Warn of Coyotes Attacking Pet Dogs
Residents are warned to 'be aware of your surroundings before letting your pet outside.'
The harsh winter is creating another problem for Stamford residents, especially those who are dog owners.
Stamford Police say they have received several reports of coyotes attacking pet dogs.
“Because of lack of food and shelter, coyotes are taking up residence under decks and are attacking dogs as they are let out,” police said in a statement.

According to police, this week there were at least three dogs attacked including a golden retriever and an English springer spaniel.
“Please be aware of your surroundings before letting your pet outside,” police said.
