Stamford Police Warn Of Fraud Scams Involving Unemployment Benefits

Stamford police are warning residents about scams involving unemployment benefits and the CT Department of Labor.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department said in a Facebook post over the weekend that it has seen a significant number of fraud cases recently that involve unemployment benefits or other types of fraud associated with the CT Department of Labor.

"This may or may not be related to recent phishing text messages attempting to get people to [click] on fraudulent links to the DOL," police said.

If you are a victim of unemployment fraud or other fraud related to the CTDOL, go to the department's website which will give instructions on how to proceed, how your information may have become compromised and how to prevent becoming a victim of fraud in the future.
