Stamford Public Schools Names Assistant Director Of Special Education
Stamford Public Schools announced the appointment of Marshell Medley, who previously worked within the school district.
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools announced last week that Marshell Medley has been named assistant director of special education and related services.
Medley recently served as the supervisor of specialized learning and student services for Norwalk Public Schools, and previously worked in Stamford as an administrative intern during the 2020-2021 school year and the central office liaison to the planning and placement teams in SPS from 2016 to 2020.
"Marshell has a tremendous commitment to supporting students with disabilities. From her early career experience as a speech-language pathologist, to her more recent experience as an administrative intern, Marshall has the background and skills to be a strong leader within the department and advocate for students and families," said Associate Superintendent Michael Fernandes in a news release. "We are thrilled to have her return to Stamford to join our team."

Medley is a graduate of SPS and a parent in the district.
"Marshell brings an additional level of commitment to our students," said Meghan Osowiecki, director of special education & related services, in a news release. "Having first-hand knowledge of her expertise, work ethic and dedication to Stamford, we are so happy to welcome her home."

Medley earned a bachelor's in English from the College of New Rochelle and a master’s in communications disorders from Southern Connecticut State University.
In her new role, Medley will develop, monitor and support requirements and criteria for intervention programs, including Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) and Specialized and Self-Contained Programs.
Medley will also manage the planning and training of educators in strategies and processes related to special education and related services.
The Stamford Special Education and Related Services Department provides programming that is geared to meet the needs of all students for students ages 3-22.
