Stamford Public Schools Names New Assistant Principal

She was promoted to the post at Strawberry Hill, an Extension of Rogers International School.

STAMFORD, CT - From Stamford Public Schools: Stamford Public Schools (SPS) recently announced Sandra Carlton as assistant principal, Strawberry Hill, an Extension of Rogers International School, effective July 1, 2019.

Carlton has been serving as administrative intern over the past two years, during which time she has been key contributor in establishing the International Baccalaureate and early literacy programs.

Strawberry Hill has added one grade each year since its opening with Kindergarten and First Grade in September 2016. The new building is slated to open this fall and the position of assistant principal was scheduled for the upcoming school year.

Carlton, who has worked in the district for the past 23 years, was the 2008 Stamford Teacher of the Year. She has also held a variety of positions, including primary year’s program facilitator, instructional support teacher, extraordinary learner program facilitator and classroom teacher.

Carlton holds a B.S. and M. A. in Education from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport, as well as an Intermediate Administration and Supervision Certification.
