STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Board of Representatives voted to censure Rep. Carl Weinberg (D-20) this week for comments he made in a Stamford Advocate op-ed, as well as for other "insensitive remarks" in public meetings and online, according to the Advocate. The vote was 19 in favor, 14 opposed with two abstentions.

In a February piece published by the Advocate, Weinberg said some Stamford Democrats have emulated "the ruling pigs" in George Orwell's book "Animal Farm."

A resolution to censure Weinberg from March said he should attend sensitivity training, but it was amended Wednesday after fellow members volunteered to join Weinberg, the Advocate reported.
