Stamford Residents Escape House Fire, Cause Under Investigation: FD

Overall, 40 career and volunteer fire personnel responded to the blaze, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m., on Nov. 6.

STAMFORD, CT — A fire ripped through a home in the Springdale neighborhood of Stamford Monday night, according to the Stamford Fire Department. Residents who were home at the time were able to escape, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 50 block of Crestview Avenue at 7:05 p.m., on Nov. 6. Units from the Springdale Fire Station arrived in less than three minutes and found fire visible from the front windows and doorway of a raised ranch-style home, the SFD said in a news release.

Two residents were able to safely evacuate on their own, the SFD noted. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes, and crews stayed at the scene for an additional two hours performing overhaul and salvage work.

Overall, 40 career and volunteer personnel responded to the fire. Additional scene support was provided by the Springdale Fire Company, SFD Training Division and Mechanical Division, Stamford Police Department and Stamford Emergency Medical Services.

The Stamford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
