Stamford School Board Agrees To Settle Sex Assault Suit: Report

The Stamford Board of Education will pay $440,000 to settle a sexual assault lawsuit, according to the Stamford Advocate.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Board of Education recently agreed to pay a $440,000 settlement related to a sexual assault lawsuit filed against a former elementary school teacher in the district, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Lawyers for one of the victims says the settlement was reached in mediation this past summer, and the case was dropped earlier this week, the Advocate noted.

"The settlement marks the latest payout the Stamford Board of Education made in connection with allegations that Robert Martinez, a gym teacher, inappropriately touched students in the late 1970s and early 1980s, records show," the Advocate said.
