The district is currently implementing a three-year plan for district-wide PreK-12 curriculum, instructional support, and assessments. The approach ensures consistency across all schools and grade levels and ensures all curriculum aligns with various state and federal core standards.

Caregivers and community members are now able to go online and view detailed information about what is being taught at each grade level, including:

  • An overview of state and federal standards
  • Highlights of the expected learning progression for the grade
  • Overviews of units and course content

All SPS curriculum is designed to guide students in practicing and mastering necessary skills.

Connecticut standards set by the state Department of Education dictate the skills students need at every grade level in every area of study.

SPS aims to move every student forward from where they start, offering universal support for students needing SPED modifications, EL accommodations, and enrichment opportunities. The vision of SPS is to challenge, inspire and prepare all students to be productive contributing members of society.

SPS will hold a virtual community conversation to share more details and answer questions about the Curriculum Portal on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
