Stamford School Schedule Decision Made for Wednesday

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools will have a two-hour delay Wednesday.
Elementary schools will dismiss at regular time and conferences are rescheduled to March 29.
Mayor David Martin asked residents to stay off the roads until 8 a.m. Wednesday at which time the local snow emergency will be lifted. Free parking will continue at downtown garages until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

“Our crews have been working hard, and will continue to work hard to clear the roads,” Martin said. “We encourage everyone to stay off the roads this evening and tonight to allow them to be plowed quickly and safely.”
As of Tuesday afternoon 66 vehicles were towed from emergency snow routes. Vehicles are to remain off posted snow emergency routes until 8 a.m. Wednesday.

· Garbage and recycling scheduled for Tuesday will be picked up on Thursday, Wednesday’s will be picked up on Friday, and Thursday and Friday’s will be picked up on Saturday.
· Communicate with and help people who require special assistance such as elderly people living alone, people with disabilities and children.
· Avoid driving until road conditions have improved.
· Those in need of shelter are urged to check with 2-1-1 and the City of Stamford website for the latest information regarding warming center openings. The Government Center will continue to be utilized as a warming station from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. An overnight warming center will continue to be open from 8PM to 8:00 AM at Inspirica at 8 Woodland Place, Stamford.
· Vehicle Recovery: After the storm ceases and the snow emergency is rescinded, for vehicle recovery, residents should call 203-977-4444, provide a license plate number and directions will be provided.
· For safety, snow and ice are mandated to be removed from passenger cars, trucks and commercial vehicles because of the dangers of ice missiles.
· Life threatening situations should be reported to 911.
· Downed power lines should be reported immediately to 911.
· Power outages should be reported to Eversource at 1-800-286-2000.
· To report operational issues such as downed trees, etc., the Citizens Service Center is open for calls at 203-977-4140 during business hours. For non-emergency weather related issues after business hours, call 203-977-4444.
