Stamford St. Patrick's Day Parade Will Return In 2022
The parade was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
STAMFORD, CT — After it was canceled in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Stamford St. Patrick's Day parade will return this March.
On Wednesday, the Irish-American Cultural Society of Stamford (IACSOS) announced plans to move forward with the annual Grand Marshal's Dinner on March 4, and the 27th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 5.
"The permits have been approved and plans are well underway to make this year’s event the very best ever," said Parade Chairman Michael P. Feighan in a news release Wednesday. "These past two years, dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, have been very challenging, but these events are beloved by the Stamford community and beyond. They are harbingers of spring and good things to come. They are a celebration of how people of Irish descent have positively impacted and continue [to] impact this community."

Feighan said he's optimistic the plans will go off without a hitch, but if the omicron variant or another variant poses a threat in late February, the IACSOS is prepared to pivot.
"We have our fingers crossed," he said.

This year’s Grand Marshal will be Roger J. Fox, who was born and raised in Stamford. He has been a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch for 47 years and has extensive community involvement as a volunteer leader, coach and outstanding citizen.
"At the Grand Marshal’s dinner, we will also posthumously honor past-parade chairman James P. Bartley," said Feighan.
The dinner will take place Friday, March 4, at Serafina at the IC, located at 1620 Newfield Ave. Tickets may be purchased for $130 through Feb. 23. After that date, the ticket price will be $150.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade is traditionally the largest parade in Fairfield County. More than 80 community marching units, pipe bands, dancers, and school organizations participate annually.
The parade will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, in downtown Stamford.
