Stamford Student Honored By Technology Group
She received the award from the Connecticut Affiliate of the National Center for Women and Information Technology.

STAMFORD, CT - From Stamford Public Schools: Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that the Connecticut Affiliate of the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) recently selected Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE) Sophomore Adena Russel as an Honorable Mention recipient of the 2019 NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. AITE Business TeacherFlorina Merturi nominated Russel for her computing-related aspirations as well as her demonstrated aptitude and interest in information technology and computing.
According to the organization, the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing builds a talent pool for the growing technical workforce and helps academic and corporate organizations celebrate diversity in computing by honoring young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing; leadership ability; academic history; and plans for post-secondary education.
Russel is in the Biomedical Engineering program at AITE. She is currently taking Advanced Placement Mobile Computer Science as an independent study to advance her programming skills.
