Stamford Superintendent Requests School Budget Increase: Report
Superintendent Tamu Lucero is calling for a 6.52 percent increase in next year's school budget in Stamford.
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Superintendent of Schools Tamu Lucero is calling for a 6.52 percent increase in next year's school budget, citing rising cuts in health insurance, building maintenance, special education and transportation as reasons for the request, the Stamford Advocate reports.
According to the Stamford Advocate, Lucero has requested a total of $301.54 million. Lucero also said funding sources previously used to cover budget shortfalls, such as healthcare reserves and food service revenue, will "no longer be available" as they have steadily declined or been depleted over the years.
