Former Stamford Gym Teacher Sexually Abused Toquam Students, Suit Claims: Report

The suit claims that Stamford moved a gym teacher to Toquam Elementary School where he sexually abused students, the Stamford Advocate said.

STAMFORD, CT — A new lawsuit filed recently in state Superior Court in Bridgeport claims that Stamford moved former gym teacher Robert Martinez to Toquam Elementary School where he sexually abused a student from 2000 to 2004, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Stamford reached a $3.25 million settlement in 2018 with former students who claimed they were sexually abused by Martinez at Rogers Elementary School in the 1970s and 80s.

The new lawsuit claims that Martinez was moved to Toquam and sexually abused an 8-year-old boy, who is now the 30-year-old unnamed plaintiff, the Advocate said, noting that similar claims were made in a lawsuit that was filed in April by another man.
