Summer Book Giveaway for Kids at Chester Addison Center
The Stamford Public Education Foundation will be giving away books Thursday afternoon to city children.

The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) is holding one of its successful, free Summer Book Giveaways on Thursday, Aug. 14 at Chester Addison/Southwood Square, 345 Selleck St., from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
SPEF has served hundreds of children and given away thousands of books over the past two years at its semiannual book giveaways held at The Ferguson Library’s main branch every spring and fall. Thanks to a partnership with “Reading is Fundamental” and its “Be Book Smart” fundraising campaign, SPEF has received more money for books than it has ever received in the past. As a result, SPEF has held eight book giveaways this summer to help prevent summer reading loss for children in Stamford.
The Stamford Public Education Foundation supports the students and teachers in Stamford’s Public Schools through community collaboration and philanthropy. At the elementary level, the foundation supports literacy initiatives and at the middle and high school levels the focus is on college and career readiness.
