Teen Charged In Assault Of Girl, Police Recover Gun: Stamford PD

A 16-year-old put a gun to a girl's head and punched her during an altercation earlier this month, according to police.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford police announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy who is accused of holding a gun to a girl's head and punching her during an altercation that occurred earlier this month.

The SPD's Major Crime and Narcotics Detectives, with help from the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team, executed a "high-risk" warrant on a Fairfield Avenue residence on the West Side of Stamford on Aug. 14, police said in a news release.

The raid resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and the seizure of a gun police say was used in the assault. The boy's name cannot be released due to his age.

According to police, the boy exchanged words with a girl under the age of 18, put a gun to her head and punched her, causing injury. Police did not mention the age of the girl.

The boy was charged with first-degree threatening, third-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit in connection with the assault, and he was transferred to juvenile detention in Bridgeport, police noted.

Following a search warrant which was executed the day of the arrest, the boy was additionally charged with possession of a high capacity magazine, failure to register a firearm, negligent storage of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, and possession of narcotics, police said.

"The Department commends the investigative team that moved quickly on this case to prevent further harm," police said.
