Tropical Storm Isaias: Thousands Without Power In Stamford
Police said "numerous" roads are closed due to downed trees and wires, and many residents are still without power, according to Eversource.
STAMFORD, CT — Many residents are still without power following Tropical Storm Isaias' path through Stamford, and the state, Tuesday afternoon.
As of 7:07 p.m., over 11,000 Eversource customers in Stamford are without power, according to the company's outage map. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
At approximately 4 p.m., police said on Twitter numerous trees and power lines were down throughout Stamford, especially in the northern portion of the city. Police also noted many roads in the city are "completely closed" and urged residents not to go out unless it is absolutely necessary to do so.

Around 2:30 p.m., police said numerous roads are closed throughout the city due to downed trees and electrical wires.
"It is unsafe to travel," police said on Twitter. "Please stay home and wait until the storms passes."

In a statement sent out Monday, city officials urged residents to secure or bring inside outdoor furniture, decorations and hanging plants and to anticipate "power and communications" outages due to expected strong winds and heavy rainfall.
"In the event of a power outage, residents should only use generators outside their home and never in enclosed spaces such as garages, basements, or porches," city officials said in a statement. "Generators should be at least 20 feet from your home and away from doors, windows or air intake vents."
Residents should be on the lookout for downed electrical wires, and all downed wires should be immediately reported to Eversource by calling 1-800-286-2000. Reisdents without powerr can also report outages directly to Evrsource through the company's outage map.
Residents should avoid driving through flooded roadways. The city's West Main Street Bridge is closed and residents are asked to avoid using the bridge during the storm.
