Weather Forces Postponement of Northeast School Flea Market

The flea market will benefit the Northeast PTO.

Weather has forced the postponement of the Northeast Elementary School Community Flea Market.

The school’s PTO has changed the date of its Community Flea Market from Saturday to Sunday, Oct. 4, to be held at the school. The hours will be 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Thirty eight individual and business sellers are registered to participate.

The Market is being held by the Northeast Parent Teacher Organization, a 501-3C non-profit organization which raises funds to support academic and enrichment programs for students in Kindergarten through the Fifth grade. All proceeds from the sales of spaces to individuals and businesses will benefit the PTO. Sellers keep all the money they make from the sale of their goods and services.

The Flea Market will take place outside in the back parking lots of the school. Sellers can tailgate their sale out of their vehicle, or set up spaces with tables and displays. Some of the items for sale will include treasures old and new, crafts, collectibles, toys, books, clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, new electronics, housewares and games.

“This event is an opportunity to get the community together in a fun way for a good cause,” said Northeast Principal Hubert Gordon. “The funds raised by our PTO will support after-school programs and field trips that some of our 650 students might not otherwise get the chance to experience.”
