Winners Named In Stamford Schools' Holiday Greeting Card Contest

From Stamford Public Schools: Stamford Public Schools Superintendent Earl Kim and City of Stamford Mayor David Martin announced the winners of the 2018 Holiday Greeting Card Competition. Superintendent Kim selected artwork created by Davenport Ridge Elementary School Third Grader Nathalie Saon to use on his holiday greeting card. Mayor Martin chose artwork submitted by Stillmeadow Elementary School First Grader Sam Fields to feature on his card this year. Saon is a student of Davenport Art Teacher Katherine Noe, and Fields is a student of Stillmeadow Art Teacher Kelley Dugan.

Each year, the superintendent and mayor ask art teachers from either the elementary or secondary schools to submit student work for consideration. They blindly selected this year’s winners from among more than 100 elementary school student submissions. In addition to the winners, the mayor and superintendent each also designate runners up, whose artwork they also felt was exceptional from among the many submissions.

Superintendent's Runners Up:

• Milena Martinez, Grade 3, Northeast Elementary School (Art teacher: Lori DiZeo)
• Janelly Monroy Quijada, Kindergarten, Stillmeadow Elementary School (Art teacher: Kelley Dugan)

Mayor's Runners Up:

• Jalexy Carrera, Grade 4, Northeast Elementary School (Art teacher: Alison Terry)
• Cataleya Torrico, Grade 1, Hart Magnet Elementary School (Art teacher: Caitlin Lafferty)

The winners, runners-up, their families and teachers are invited to a celebration in the Government Center Lobby, on Tuesday, December 4, at 4:00 p.m. Select submissions will be on display in the Government Center throughout the month of December.
