In years past, the superintendent and mayor asked SPS art teachers, from either elementary or secondary schools, to submit student work for consideration. However, due to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the contest was instead open to all SPS staff members.

Staff members submitted their artwork electronically, and Lucero and Martin blindly selected their winners from among those submissions.

In addition to having their artwork featured on greeting cards that will be shared with hundreds of community members, Teek and Giandurco will be recognized at the Regular Board of Education meeting scheduled for Jan. 28, 2021, will receive blank greeting cards featuring their own artwork and receive classroom supplies for their school.

The artwork can be viewed on the district website.
