Woman Given Shelter by Stamford Family Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Teen

While living with family, the suspect allegedly seduced a 13-year-old boy.

A homeless woman has pleaded guilty to a sexual assault charge after she reportedly seduced the 13-year-old son of the Stamford family who had taken her in last year.

Last week, Sabrina Destiny Melendez, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault at state Superior Court in Stamford, and will face a nine-month jail sentence when she is sentenced on Feb. 20, according to CTPost.com.

Melendez also will serve 10 years probation and will be placed on the state’s Sex Offender Registry for 10 years, according to the report.

The family, who lives on Stamford’s East side, offered Melendez housing in August 2013 because she was homeless. While living with the family, she apparently seduced and had sexual intercourse with the teenager who later tried to break off the relationship, according to the report that can be found here.
