Woman Struck And Killed By Van In Stamford: Police
The crash occurred Tuesday morning on Elm Street.

STAMFORD, CT — A 59-year-old Fairfield woman was killed early Tuesday after she was struck by a van as she was crossing Elm Street in Stamford, according to Stamford police.
The victim's name is being withheld until her family has been notified. The incident occurred just after 7 a.m. near North State Street, and the woman died after being transported to Stamford Hospital.
"In the crash a 2016 Dodge Ram van was traveling southbound on Elm Street turning onto North State Street," wrote Stamford police in a post on the department's Facebook page. "A pedestrian was on North State Street intending to cross from the northwest corner to the northeast corner when the collision occurred."

The driver of the van is a 38-year-old Stamford resident whose identity has not been released. He remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, said police. The crash remains under investigation, and whether he may face charges was not disclosed.
