1 Killed, 1 Injured In Head-On Crash In North Stonington

BREAKING: The accident occurred Friday night and the victim identifications have been released.

NORTH STONINGTON, CT — One person was killed and another injured in an accident on Route 201 in North Stonington, State Police said. Michael Power, 51, of North Stonington, was driving south on Route 201 and Candace J. Porter, 61, of Voluntown was traveling north on Route 201 when they both crashed in a head-on collision, State Police said.

At the time of the collision it was dusk Friday and the roadway was unlit. The area where the collision occurred is a two-lane highway with one lane in each direction and there is a double solid center median divider, State Police said. It was not raining at the time of the accident, which was just after 8 p.m.

Power suffered possible minor injuries in the crash while Lucy Sanglorio, 77, of North Stonington, who was a passenger in Power's vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, State Police said.

Porter was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation and if anyone has any information please call Trooper Gardner at 860-848-6500.
