3 Hospitalized In Stonington Prom Pepper Spray Incident

Three students were hospitalized Saturday in a pepper spray incident during Stonington High School's senior prom.

STONINGTON, CT - Three students were hospitalized Saturday night after pepper spray was released into the air at Stonington High School's senior prom at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, The Westerly Sun reported. They were treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and released.

They are expected to make a full recovery and suffer no long-term effects.

Police received a call at 9:45 p.m. complaining that students were having trouble breathing due to an irritant had been sprayed onto the dance floor. The incident led many prom attendees to evacuate and the event came to an abrupt end, according to The New London Day.

Police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
