4th Annual Road to the Relay Street Fair and Paint the Town Purple Ready to Kick Off May 2

Presented by the Greater Westerly Relay for Life, 10am - 2pm

The Relay For Life of Westerly will host the 4th Annual Road to Relay Street Fair, Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in downtown Westerly, which will also mark the start of Paint the town Purple.

Road to Relay and Paint the town Purple are community-wide events geared toward raising awareness for the Relay For Life of Westerly event on June 27, 2015. In addition, Road to Relay helps Relay For Life teams generate funds to meet their fundraising goals.

Relay For Life teams will line the downtown sidewalks on Broad Street providing activities, crafts, gifts, food and more to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. To date, 42 teams have signed up for Westerly Relay and a handful at Road to the Relay will be providing items including homemade treats (breads, sweets etc.), handmade crafts, pie throwing contest, face painting, henna tattoo’s and more. Get Fired Up! will also have special tiles to paint that will be displayed at Relay in June, a portion of the sales will go towards supporting Westerly Relay. Tiles will be available starting May 2 and through the month of May!

In addition to the team-sponsored tables, Relay For Life committee members will be in attendance and happy to answer any and all questions about the 2015 event. The “Relay Store” will be open, where you can purchase and pick up your must-have Relay For Life swag and essentials. Visit the Team Recruitment table if you are interested in signing up a new team. Luminary will also be for sale, and can be purchased at the Luminary table. If you are a survivor, this is a great time for you to register and sign up for this year’s Relay. You can also get important information and nominate a loved one for the Courage Award.

While at Road to Relay, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Paint the Town Purple participant. Over 30- participating merchants (all over greater Westerly/Pawcatuck) will decorate their storefront windows, sidewalks, and walls in purple décor to help kick-off the final leg of Relay fundraising season and help to raise awareness for Relay For Life. The winning merchant will get their name on Relay t-shirts.
