5 Stonington Businesses Fail Tobacco Compliance Check: Police

Five businesses are facing fines on allegations they sold tobacco or e-cigarette products to minors, according to police.

STONINGTON, CT — Five businesses are facing fines on accusations that they failed to comply with the state law on the sale of tobacco and e-cigarettes to minors, according to police. Police conducted unannounced compliance inspections of businesses selling tobacco products and e-cigarettes May 22.

Out of fourteen inspections, five establishments were found to be non-compliant, according to police:

  • Bestway Food Store & Smoke Shop at 380 Liberty St.
  • Chucky's/Shell at 242 Greenmanville Ave.
  • Mobil at 87 W. Broad St.
  • Henny Penny Shell at 2 Roosevelt Ave.
  • Mobil at 34 E. Main St.

Each business was fined $300 and issued a first-time infraction.
