A Great Party In Mystic On Saturday Night!

The Gathering of Spirits is a unique "party with a purpose". The only ticket price is a bottle of fine wine (90+ points) or spirits, or if the guest prefers, a donation of $50 at the door. The spirits gathered will be used as silent auction items for the 25th Silver Anniversary Green Tie Gala in the fall. It is important to register in advance at www.dpnc.org/gala or by calling 860-536-1216.
Moon - The date for the Gathering was chosen because it is a Full Buck Moon. July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. So it is the new beginnings of great things for the Nature Center.
Food - A champagne toast to the Full Buck Moon compliments of Frizzante, beer compliments of Cottrell Brewing, rum tasting from The Real McCoy Rum, wines from local wineries (Maggie or Betty can add more color here), casual backyard fare featuring an authentic Rhode Island Clam Boil and s'mores with salted caramel rum sauce by the bonfire.
Music by 28 Strings - With a repertoire of over 120 classic rock songs from the 60s and 70s, the acoustically-oriented band 28 Strings is a welcome addition to the music scene in Southeastern CT.
The Spirits of Nature Costume Contest - Creativity is the watch word for this fun and different costume contest. What spirit of nature do you relate to - is it an animal? A wolf, dog, buffalo, spider, shark? Or is it an element - the wind, the rain, fire, ice? Or perhaps it's a simple flower? Have fun with it - it's worth it! There is only one winner (although a winner could be a couple with a joint theme - "Who's the back of the elephant?") and the prize is a ticket to the Green Tie Gala - a $100 value!
