Nearby North Stonington also earns an A-, giving local parents multiple strong options as they weigh school quality when deciding where to live.
   

• Stonington apologizes for post-game fan comment (thewesterlysun.com) — Stonington's acting school superintendent has apologized after a local fan shouted a derogatory remark toward New London football players following a lopsided game, prompting an investigation and possible fan suspensions. In a letter to Stonington athletes, parents, and staff, he stressed civility, cited the Board of Education's civility policy, and pledged that future games must better reflect the community's standards.
   

• CT man wanted to join ISIS because he thought he could kill more people overseas, officials say (ctpost.com) — A Connecticut man who tried to join ISIS was sentenced to more than seven years in prison after planning to leave the country by boat from Stonington. Federal prosecutors argued he remained dangerous, while his lawyers cited mental health and personal history in seeking a lighter sentence and lifelong supervision instead of more prison time.
