Old Lighthouse Museum In Stonington Extends Hours For Spring And Summer

The 1840 at 7 Water Street in Stonington Borough has announced new hours for the spring and summer season, which include staying open until 8 pm on Thursdays. The museum, operated by the Stonington Historical Society, opens at 10 am each day and usually closes at 6 pm, but on Thursdays, visitors are welcome to climb the 29 stone steps to the top of the Lighthouse to see the sun set over three states.

Currently on exhibit at the museum are artifacts reflecting Stonington’s maritime heritage, items from around the world brought home by local sea captains, locally made artifacts, such as an outstanding collection of 19th-century pottery, toys and dolls owned by Stonington children in bygone days. The museum’s six rooms of exhibits are packed with artifacts representing the town’s rich heritage, the lives of fishermen and farmers, merchants and shipbuilders, artists and explorers.

Admission includes a free pass to the , a National Historic Landmark at 40 Palmer Street.
