SHS Students Recognized For Excelling In The Arts

Dana Shroyer and Gabrielle Zelepos will be honored at the Seventeenth Annual Connecticut Association of Schools Arts Recognition Banquet, held in April, to honor Connecticut’s outstanding seniors who excel in the performing and/or visual arts.

Dana Shroyer has been heavily involved in the Stonington High music program, having participated in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Women's Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble.  She has also been involved in the drama program, including playing Mother Abbess in this year's production of Sound of Music.  Dana has been selected to participate in the Eastern Region Chorus (receiving the highest soprano score this year), All-State Chorus, and All-New England chorus. She is planning on continuing her musical studies at college next year.

Gabrielle Zelepos' selection for the CAS Fine Arts Award is well deserved.  Gabby has proven to be a student of intense study, creative exploration and orientation to detail. During Graphic Design class, she pushed the boundaries of design while mastering complex digital software, and in Studio Arts courses has explored a variety of media in a creative and skillful manner.  This year, Gabby has meshed her technical skills with higher level concepts as she creates her portfolio in the Advanced Placement Course.  We look forward to observing her progress as she moves through her college years and into the professional field of her choice!

Congratulations to Dana and Gabrielle who clearly possess the qualities to be recognized with The Connecticut Association of Schools Fine Arts.
