Bears Beat Bulldogs in Thanksgiving Day Classic, 33-28

The Stonington High football team defeated Westerly 33-28 Thursday morning on the gleaming new Field Turf at Donald E. Palmer Field in a wild and woolly affair that wasn't decided until the Bears recovered an onsides kick with about a minute left.

The Bears, though, learned after the game they did not make the CIAC Class M playoffs by virtue of Quinebaug Valley's victory over Killingly.

Stonington now leads the all-time series 71-66, with 17 ties.
