Boat Gets Tangled In Mystic River Bridge, Causes Train Delays
The mast of a sailing vessel got tangled up in the Mystic River Train Bridge, causing Amtrak train delays.
MYSTIC, CT - The mast of a sailing vessel got tangled up in the Mystic River Train Bridge on Wednesday, causing delays for a pair of Amtrak trains, the New London Day reported. Officials with U.S. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound said the incident occurred close to 7:15 a.m.
Officials said bridge workers were able to untangle the mast by the time a Coast Guard crew arrived, according to the New London Day. The vessel was then put in a side tow and taken to a nearby yacht yard.
Officials said the vessel was not damaged and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, according to the New London Day. Two Amtrak trains were delayed due to the incident.
