Body Of Missing Stonington Woman Found In Rhode Island: PD
Police said the case remains under investigation.

STONINGTON, CT — Police said the body of a woman missing from Stonington since Christmas Eve was found Wednesday morning in Rhode Island. On Monday, police issued a Silver Alert for Lucia Ritacco, 68, who had been reported missing since 8:30 a.m. the day.
According to a news release, police said Ritacco's vehicle was located in Westerly, R.I., at the Wechapog Breachway parking lot Tuesday morning. On Wednesday at approximately 10:30 a.m., police located her remains in the water north of the Breachway, police said. (To sign up for Stonington/Mystic breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
The remains were sent to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office. The case remains under investigation, although nothing appears to be suspicious at this time, according to police.

The Stonington and Westerly police departments, Rhode Island State Police, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Watch Hill Fire Department and Dunn’s Corner Fire Department assisted with the search of the area, police said.
