Child Dies In Boating Accident In North Stonington: CT DEEP

Three others were taken to a hospital.

NORTH STONINGTON, CT — A child died in a boating accident Friday evening and three others have been hospitalized, according to Will Healey, who is the spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP EnCon Police are investigating a boating accident at Wyassup Lake in North Stonington that occurred around 5:15 p.m. Friday, Healey said.

One boat was involved. Four individuals, including two juveniles, were on the vessel when it capsized, Healey said.

All four people were ejected into the water. Four individuals were transported to Westerly Hospital. One juvenile has been pronounced deceased, Healey said.

This incident is still an ongoing investigation. CT State Police and North Stonington Fire and EMS also assisted in response to this incident.
