Committee Passes Bill Supporting Mystic Tourism
A legislative committee has passed a bill to enhance tourism and support small businesses in the Mystic seaport area.

MYSTIC, CT ā A legislative committee has passed a bill to enhance tourism and support small businesses in the Mystic seaport area, according to a statement from Senate Republicans.
An Act Establishing a Working Group to Develop a Plan for Expanding the Tourism Industry in the Mystic Seaport Area of the Town of Stonington and Groton was voted out of committee.
Sen. Heather Somers (R-Groton), a member of the Commerce Committee, "played a pivotal role in the construction of this bill and is committed to refining its language," according to the statement.

Since last spring, a consortium of municipal leaders, tourism attractions including Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, community groups, and residents have been engaged in locally led workshops and discussions to address community transportation needs.
āFrom the outset, our aim has been to make an already good bill even better," Somers said in a statement. "This legislation is crucial to our district, and I look forward to continuing to work on the language until it reaches its finest iteration.
