Compliments to the Stonington Historic Society

Note to the Stonington Historic Society:                                                                                                          

We want to take just a minute to compliment the Stonington Historic Society on its chosen direction in the planned expansion and renovation of the Stonington Light.  

A contemporary glass and metal building not only complies with department of interior preservation standards but provides the opportunity to contrast and highlight the unique characteristics of the existing historic stone structure.  

Its refreshing to see that a new approach to building in the Borough, one with a bit of irony and dare we say fun, is now seen as possible and not the death knell to the Borough as it was once thought.

Our compliments to the leadership of the Society in identifying a new approach.

As neighbors and design professionals we endorse this plan and program for the lighthouse restoration.
