The Town of Stonington hopes residents will find composting as a-peeling as they already do with regular recycling, from cardboard to phones to bottle and cans.
What many may not know is that to encourage composting, the Solid Waste department on the ground floor of Town Hall sells backyard compost bins, a program in conjunction with the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Resource Recovery Authority. The bins cost $45.
For more information on how to compost, including instructional videos, visit the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection website at http://www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2718&q=325344.
