In the rich, final decades of the 19th century, composers often expressed their most personal thoughts in the piano trio. With great pleasure, we welcome three inspired New Haven musicians and their appealing program of Smetana, Arensky, and Debussy. The strikingly different instruments of this chamber medium – violin, cello, piano – easily conjure forth a close-knit, intimate sound scape, but they also surprise us with brilliant hues and truly symphonic depth. We can’t think of a finer way to banish – however briefly! – the grayness of early November. Seating is limited, please arrive early.
